Country Team Lead [Ghana]
Role Overview
Climate Change Writers is seeking a passionate and driven individual to join our global team as the Ghana Team Lead. In this unpaid, remote, volunteer position, you will spearhead efforts to produce impactful, fact-based content on climate change, with a specific focus on Ghana’s unique challenges and opportunities. This role is a 3-month commitment and offers the chance to collaborate with a global network of writers, activists, and advocates working toward meaningful climate action.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Coordination: Lead and coordinate a team of writers and contributors across Ghana, ensuring the production of high-quality content that addresses local climate issues.
- Content Development: Oversee the creation of articles, opinion pieces, and reports that raise awareness and encourage actionable solutions for climate change in Ghana.
- Advocacy & Networking: Build relationships with local environmental organizations, policymakers, and influencers to amplify your team’s work.
- Outreach & Recruitment: Identify and onboard passionate writers, researchers, and activists to expand the Climate Change Writers network in Ghana.
- Strategy Implementation: Develop and execute a localized content strategy aligned with the broader goals of Climate Change Writers.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Track the progress of content production and provide regular updates to the global Climate Change Writers team.
Requirements
- Proven experience in writing, editing, or advocacy, particularly on environmental or climate-related topics.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage remote teams.
- In-depth understanding of Ghana’s climate challenges, environmental policies, and socio-economic context.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks within deadlines.
- Passion for climate advocacy and a desire to contribute to meaningful change.
Preferred Qualifications
- A background in journalism, environmental science, public policy, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Ghana’s climate policies and grassroots movements.
- Existing network within environmental activism or journalism in Ghana.
- Experience with digital publishing platforms and social media advocacy.
